Pearly's
One of Langebaan’s most iconic beachfront restaurants, Pearly’s has been dishing up delicious meals since it opened its doors in 1993. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can expect fresh seafood dishes, grills, pizzas and pastas and lovely light meals. It is also the perfect place from which to enjoy a sundowner or cocktail as you watch the sun set over the iconic Langebaan lagoon.
Die Strandloper
Situated just outside of Langebaan town center, Die Strandloper has become a ‘must-see’ when one visits Langebaan or the West Coast. The buffet-style restaurant is situated on the beach and features a huge boma fireplace from where the experienced cooks and chefs serve up their 10-course menu featuring local cuisine such as West Coast mussels, West Coast harders, fish curry, crayfish and more delicious delicacies. Often you’ll find locals entertaining guests with a guitar in hand, encouraging them to sing along!
West Coast National Park
Just outside of Langebaan - yet still overlooking the gorgeous Langebaan lagoon - is the well-known West Coast National Park. Part of SANParks, the West Coast National Park is home to a host of wonderful, natural attractions. Perhaps the most noteworthy attraction is the beautiful wildflowers that are so indigenous to the West Coast and only bloom for a very limited time between August and September. Other attractions include a lovely restaurant, picnic and braai facilities and several hiking trails.
West Coast Fossil Park
Just a 10 minute drive outside of Langebaan is the famed West Coast Fossil Park. Here, young and old can explore fascinating fossils that are millions of years old. The park also offers guided tours, mock digs and an opportunity to ‘make’ your own fossil. There is also a restaurant serving up delicious home cooked meals if you want to take a break from digging for fossils.
Langebaan’s Natural Beauty
If you’re looking to enjoy the natural beauty of a place, then Langebaan is ideal. The beautiful seaside town offers visitors everything from long, stretched out beaches, to bird watching and, of course, the beautiful lagoon. Calypso beach, as the stretch of beach is called along the Langebaan lagoon, is perfect for family fun in the sun. The lagoon itself is famed for being the ideal body of water form which to enjoy an array of exciting watersports, including kitesurfing, paddle boarding and windsurfing - or even just a relaxed boat ride across the lagoon. For those looking to spot some indigenous and rare West Coast birds, there are several nature paths and hiking trails that will allow you to spot these beauties. There are also three hides on the shore of the lagoon from which to observe the 250+ bird species that live in the area.
